Elizabeth "Ella" Claire Dowling

Elizabeth "Ella" Claire Dowling

Last year on my birthday, we received a text from the Dowlings saying they were on their way to the hospital to welcome Elizabeth Claire Dowling into the world a little more than a month early. Selfishly, my first thought was, "I already have to compete with Christmas and now a baby?? Christmas: 1, Baby: 1, Me: 0."

What a difference a year makes

What a difference a year makes

So if you follow me on instagram, I mentioned a few days ago that I like setting goals for the new year. My photography goals last year were to find my photography style (or at least make my work look more cohesive) and to shoot in manual for an entire year. Today, I finally sat down to look at my work from a year ago.

Haylie Stephens

Haylie Stephens

I had my batteries charged, memory cards ready, bag packed, and map in hand. And I still somehow managed to leave the house late. When I got to the park where I'd be meeting Lexi Gregory for Haylie's senior session, I was so relieved that I'd made it in time! Except I made it to the wrong part of the park.

Mary Arellano

This was the first styled shoot I participated in, and it was so fun! I met some sweet new friends, got to work with an incredibly talented model, and waded in a river in my rain boots. I'd say it was a pretty successful day!

Model: Mary Arellano
Makeup/Hair: Kaleene Knight
Florals: Audrey Robinson

Grace

Grace

"Grace is simply the ability to put one foot in front of the other. Grace is the ability to go to work and endure it one more time. Grace is the ability to keep on going in spite of the fact that nothing around you has changed. To find the energy, to find the strength, and to find the faith to keep  moving in the direction that God would have you move." -Andy Stanley

Courtney Dowling Law

Courtney Dowling Law

The past few weeks, I have been working away on a beautiful new website for my dear friend, Mrs. Courtney Dowling. Courtney and I met through church almost two years ago, and let me tell you she's a force to be reckoned with (which is exactly what you want in a defense attorney).

That dang blinking cursor

That dang blinking cursor

I have nothing to write about. I have been sitting here, staring at a blinking cursor. My mind is swirling with a million things to talk about, but I can't pinpoint one. I could talk about my recent vacation or why black lives matter or why it's important to listen to your body when it's telling you to rest, but instead I just sit here.

Wander

Wander

The last few days, I have been at the HOW Conference in Atlanta. For those of you unfamiliar with HOW, it is a giant (and I do mean giant) design conference. I spent the last month or so preparing for the trip, booking the hotel, registering for sessions, and downloading Uber so I could learn how to use it. Little did I know that the sessions I picked, though led by very different people from many walks of life, would continually lead me back to one thought: I need to be less connected, so that I can connect more.

Boundaries

Boundaries

Justin Bieber has the right idea (there, I said it). Bieber has been getting some backlash because he has decided that for his health and mental well-being, he will no longer take pictures with his fans. After his announcement, people started losing their minds, telling him to get over it and that it comes with the territory. But should he just get over it? Does it come with the territory?
