It's time to shift focus

Today is a dreary day. It’s one of those days that seeps into your bones. A day when you can get lost in your thoughts. Today is the kind of day that makes me moody. I get tired and cranky and self-focused. I start throwing myself a little pity party for one.

I think God uses moody, rainy days as gentle reminders not to focus so much on what we feel, but to shift focus to what we know.

I feel frustrated with several things out of my control, but I know God says not to worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself (Matthew 6:34).

I feel like today is nothing special, but I know God says each day is a day that He created and to be joyful and glad in it (Psalm 118:24).

I feel like I need or am missing so many things, but I know God says I lack nothing (Psalm 23:1).

So here’s to a focus shift. To a beautiful, wonderful, perfectly made cloudy, rainy day.
