Saoirse - 6 months

You guys. Puppies are hard work!!

Saoirse is now 6.5 months old and 62 pounds. It feels like we just got her and like we've had her forever at the same time. I don't remember what it feels like to sleep past 7, have clean floors, or travel without thinking about puppy plans. I know that I can never go back though.

Saoirse is doing much better after keeping us worried last week, and we decided to get her groomed for the first time on Saturday. They said she was very sweet and did very well, until the dryer came out! They ended up putting her in a crate with a floor dryer pointed at her. We went to peek in, and there she was in the crate, head leaning against the side, mouth and ears flapping in the wind, and a face that said "please kill me now." When she was done, she came strutting out, super poofed, with pink bows and a flowered bandana. Jarrod about died when he saw the bows. I managed to convince him to leave them until I could get Saoirse home and take pictures, but they were out fast as lightning as soon as I was done!

It feels like we've been going nonstop with her, but the training is quickly starting to pay off. When I brought her to the vet on Friday she was quite the well behaved lady. She only tried to jump up once when she saw her favorite vet tech :) After seeing the vet, we were told to wait at the front for the bill and Saoirse's medicine. It was pretty empty at this point so we went and sat in the middle of a wall length bench. Saoirse immediately sat with me, but soon a couple came in with a very poorly leash trained Miniature Labradoodle. He was all over the place, and they were giving him full rein of his 7 foot leash. He kept bothering Saoirse, but she would just watch and huff at him. Thankfully they called him back quickly, and while he was annoying it gave Saoirse a chance to shine! We were called up to the counter and Saoirse did a perfect heel, then laid down while I was paying. When I was done, I gave her the cue for walking ("let's go!") and she immediately stood up, heeled perfectly all the way to the car, and loaded up on command. I heard a lady comment about how impressed she was. Needless to say, I was so very proud of my sick girl!
